How long is the training program?
Training is for 20 days long and 8 hours a day from 8am-5pm. There are additional free classes after the 20 day period if the participant is available – Forklift and Crane Signaling through Airstreams.
How much is the training?
Training costs $4,900 per participant but is free for those who qualify for the grants through South Bay Center for Counseling. Relocation and living costs are not supported through the grant.
Where can find cheap apartments to relocate?
Airstreams has deals with apartments near their training facility. Orchard Apartments is recommended place of to room. http://www.orchardcaliving.com
When are trainings scheduled?
Training dates are scheduled twice a month. Please contact staff for upcoming dates to match your availability and communicate the months you would like to start training.
Is this a guaranteed placement?
Upon successful completion of the program, 90% of veterans who have completed the program are placed into jobs. Placement is very high if the candidate is flexible with relocating and traveling. Employers are referred by Airstream’s job developer and upon the last week of training, employers are identifying candidates for interviews.
Where are the jobs located?
Jobs are all over the nation, such as: Texas, Oregon, Utah, California, etc. The companies are in locations that can support wind farms. Here are the companies that recruit from Airstreams: http://air-streams.com/airstreams_partners.php
Will there be a workforce development specialist (aka counselor) in the classroom with me as I train?
Due to the location of the training facility, the workforce development specialist will not be onsite but will work with the participant individually to help them through any barriers they may face during the program.
What happens if I decide to drop out of the program in the middle of training or if I become ineligible due to a conviction?
These training programs are an investment and EPP wants applicants to be certain about transitioning into their careers. If an applicant does withdraw from the program, the participant is required to pay a pro-rata amount (at the rate of $245 per day) for the number of trainings days attended, plus a $200 registration fee.
How is this program free for veterans and recently separated veterans?
The training program is funded through Workforce Investment Act funds from a specific grant called Veterans Employment-Related Assistance Program. The grant is to support recently discharged veterans and help them transition into worthwhile civilian careers.
It states that the program is only recruiting recently separated veterans, can veterans apply?
Yes, we are accepting applications from veterans that are not rsvs.
Can civilians apply?
Civilians can apply but there is a priority to recruit veterans. Public applications will be waitlisted.
